You’ll swear that you’ve taken a trip back in time to Madison Coffee Co., located in the heart of Madison, Florida. What an amazing “Old Florida” coffee shop!
Madison Coffee Company

Housed in a gleaming white salt-box is Madison Coffee Company. The skies around it are brilliant blue against the clapboard siding, and its charm is unmistakable. “Welcome to Old World Florida” it says… Well, it would if this old house could speak.
Just a quick climb up the front steps, and you’re greeted with the gentile southern hospitality which is so indicative of Madison, Florida. Enjoy your favorite brew and maybe a cinnamon biscuit. Then, sink into the slower pace of life here.
Northern Florida Gulf & the Surrounding Wetlands
When most people think of Florida, it’s the sun and sandy beaches that come to mind. Though the land of Northern Florida has a wild, care-free and untamed nature about it. Here, the coastal wetlands are made up of mangrove forests and salt marshes that gently sprawl toward the sea. A myriad of rivers, lakes and tributaries provide an ideal environment for all sorts of nature-lovers. It is the best of Old World Florida!

You see, it is the wetlands that provide the essential habitats for the teaming fish, innumerous crustaceans, and thousands of coastal birds in Florida. Interestingly, these are the exact natural resources that draw people here. People are drawn to its tropical warmth, stunning natural beauty and amazing outdoor sports life.
The “Old World Florida” area stretches from Mexico City Beach, down along the coastline of Apalachee Bay, to the fishing port of Steinhatchee. Here, you will find a paradise seldom seen. The lands that lay from the Georgia-Florida line to the coast are known as the Coastal Plains. Old Florida “Cracker Country” rich in folklore and pioneer spirit.
The Desolate Beauty

I find the beauty here desolate. You can look out across the coastal plains, as far as the eye can see, and not see another soul. The marshland rises up to meet the ocean beautifully here, and many days you’ll only spy one or two boats on the water. Also, it is a place where nature has always maintained control.
In fact, just a few years back in 2018, Hurricane Michael swept through these parts. Consequently, nature reclaimed many of the lands that had been built upon. Life here has a cost, and it is one of impermanence. Yet, it is nature that shapes this gorgeous land and sea environment, and exactly why it is so delicately perfect.
Coffee Shop & Confections

Speaking of perfection… Nestled on the northeast side of downtown Madison you find locals and travelers alike flocking to this unique coffee shop. Whether you’re here for an annual fishing tournament, browsing Madison’s historic downtown, or simply dropping by for your morning “cup a joe,” this is your spot!
They brew up an incredible cup of coffee. It’s no wonder, since their roast hails from the area favorite, Lucky Goat Roastery made in nearby Tallahassee. Try their rich, robust espresso with a small amount of foamed milk. Otherwise known as Madison’s Macchiato. In Italian, macchiato means “stained” or “spotted”, so the literal translation of this macchiato is “stained coffee.”
But don’t neglect to pair their Macchiato with a wonderful pastry or breakfast sandwich. Madison’s baked-goods case is full of delicious homemade muffins, cookies, and even cheesecake.

The interior of Madison’s coffee shop is a direct complement to the warmth of its historic charm. Warm wood tones and painted shiplap envelop you as you step in the front door.
