There’s a great new coffee house in Greenville, SC. Outstanding specialty coffee served in a cafe with a stunning interior.

Rich aroma greets you at the front door of Chestnut Coffee House. Its full-bodied scent beckons you in to place your order. Latte? Cappuccino? Espresso? As you look around, you are amazed.
This coffee house seems to be straight out of the portfolio of Joanna Gaines with its sleek and modern farm-house influence. As well as, its gorgeous proportions which envelope all of your senses as you take a seat with your favorite brew. Clean fresh modern lines are punctuated with brass lighting that sparks your imagination, and green foliage that provides a sense of ease. Not that you’re here for the design and architectural elements, but they certainly do enhance every cup, don’t they!
Chestnut Coffee House is an eclectic mix of friendly southern hospitality and professionally appointed accouterments that set a backdrop like no other for the amazing coffee you are about to experience.
What a Coffee Mecca
This Coffee Mecca features Methodical Roastery as their foundation, and in just one sip you’ll know exactly why. Methodical is a highly respected coffee roaster in the South. Circa 2015, it’s become a ‘house-hold’ word within both the regional and US specialty coffee cultures.
Their Costa Rica, La Pastora has become one of my favorite morning first-cup blends since we visited a couple of weeks ago. It’s a washed coffee with hints of almond, gingersnap and plum. What a great way to begin the day with something that feels a little exotic. As I contemplate my day, I’m brought back to the beauty I experienced ‘in-store’ with that initial cup.
From the first sip to the last drop, Chestnut keeps an eye on every detail. They seem to instinctively know that for coffee enthusiasts, it’s not just a one-time deal, we are looking for an experience we can repeat again whenever the mood strikes. And this place hits the spot!
A Gathering Spot
It’s all about the coffee, and it’s so much more than the coffee! You may think it’s a contradiction, but it’s evident that both beliefs are at their core. Chestnut baristas balance their attention on both the customer and the perfection of their coffee craft, but without an ounce of snobbery. As you relax back, you can’t help but notice the variety of people that gravitate to Chestnut for all the same reasons you do.
From couples intimately huddled in warm conversations, to business associates possibly reaching the win-win of a negotiation. From, a gentleman or woman seated at the coffee bar sipping in deep thought, or a mom group with strollers in tow. This cafe is a gathering hot-spot. Interestingly, there is no infringement of one party on another. Everyone is smiling and at ease, enjoying the brew or beverage and pastry of their choice.
Chestnut Coffee House Ideals
So let’s get down to the real reason you came – coffee. We’d suggest their Cortado, which is artisan-crafted with equal parts espresso and steamed milk. Pair it with their light and flaky Croissant, or a Gluten-free Cinnamon muffin as pictured above. All of their baked-good ingredients are fresh, home-made, and must-have delicacies.
Finally, the owners, Jon and Brandi Ward, wanted to create a sense of love and comfort in their planning of both coffee curation and coffee house design. “Our coffee is designed, from start to finish, to offer an experience of warmth, togetherness and pause within your day.”
Furthermore, we learned that Jon and Brandi; husband and wife owners are also a design and home building team. Now it all makes perfect sense, and what better team to create this enchanting coffee destination with breath-taking design? We are absolutely blown away by every aspect of this truly unique coffee shop.
Upon Reflection
At the Coffee Critics, we look at coffee as more than an experience. We seek out places that make coffee a destination. Chestnut Coffee House certainly fits this bill with its distinction of not only high-level coffee service, but delivers it with incredible style. If we were to present an award for ‘Top Specialty Coffee with a Show-Stopping Interior,’ then hands down; Chestnut is the clear winner!
